About Independent Environments

Independent Environments is a nonprofit in Eugene, Oregon that assists people with developmental disabilities to live healthy and happy lives by fully participating in home, community, and family life. Independent Environments bring their mission to life by enhancing the quality of life for the people they support as well as their families, friends, their employees and their community.

Independent Environments has well-kept homes with long-term employees who provide Independent Environments’ 25 residents with 24-hour Residential Support, Community Employment Services and ASL classes. Each resident at Independent Environments receives support that meets their needs along with activities and experience in the community for each resident.

Going Solar with RE-volv

Independent Environments went solar with RE-volv in December 2019 through a 5.5 kW solar array that will avoid 222,100 lbs of emissions from entering the atmosphere while saving Independent Environments $7,500 over the lifetime of the solar system.

Jayson Davis, the Finance Director at Independent Environments says, “Going solar is allowing us to move in the direction of being more "green" and reducing the carbon footprint the homes have. This in turn provides a peace of mind to staff and the people we serve that we are giving back to our environment and community in this way.”

The residents and staff at Independent Environments, along with the local community, celebrated their solar installation with a Solar Ribbon Cutting Event, which was a great opportunity for residents and community members to learn about the importance of clean, renewable solar energy.
