PLANT A SOLAR SEED TODAY
About the campaign
As students at the Claremont Colleges, many of our classes challenge us to think critically about the issue of climate change. We have learned how warmer temperatures are causing glaciers and sea ice to melt and leading to an increase in the frequency and magnitude of heat waves. We have seen how climate change threatens and endangers coastal communities and ecosystems.
Although our classes give us the knowledge to discuss theses issue, we are seldom provided with an opportunity to act. That is why we formed the RE-volv Claremont Colleges chapter. RE-volv empowers people and communities to invest collectively in renewable energy. We crowdsource funding to put solar panels on community-serving nonprofit organizations. As these organizations pay us back, we reinvest the money into more solar projects in communities across the country. As Solar Ambassadors for RE-volv, we have been trained to run crowdfunding campaigns that help nonprofits go solar.
RE-volv was the perfect platform that enabled us to have a tangible positive impact on the world around us. We are agents of change, educators of solar energy and passionate about ensuring a better future. But we still need your help.
We believe that everyone should have the ability to support and spread clean energy. So we created a new way for people to take action. It's a pretty simple idea. We crowdsource funding to put solar panels on community-serving nonprofit organizations. As these organizations pay us back, we reinvest the money into more solar projects in communities across the country. This creates a revolving fund for solar energy that continually perpetuates itself building more and more solar. It's a pay-it-forward model for solar energy. We call it the Solar Seed Fund.
Every dollar donated to the Solar Seed Fund is invested directly into community-serving nonprofit solar projects, like schools, homeless shelters, and food pantries. Any donation amount will help us get one step closer to achieving our goal of ensuring a more sustainable future. Think global, act local.
About our Team:
We are a group of six students from Pitzer College and Scripps Colleges representing the greater Claremont College Consortium. We are the first chapter to partner with RE-volv from The Claremont Colleges and definitely won't be the last. Our planned events consist of a bake sale to raise funds as well as collaborating with the Sunrise Movement to attend climate rallies.
Solar is a simple solution to help reduce carbon emissions, make the air cleaner, and strengthen communities.
Every dollar donated to the Solar Seed Fund is invested directly into community-serving nonprofit solar projects, like schools, homeless shelters, and food pantries.
When these nonprofits go solar, they not only save money, but re-allocate money spent on dirty energy toward fulfilling their missions. That means that your donated dollar helps both people and the planet. We call that a win-win.
When each project is complete, RE-volv will send you the address and photos of the community benefiting from your donation.
