The Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara (USSB) has been around since 1872, providing a gathering space for progressive Unitarian Universalist worship. The congregation holds weekly services grounded in Unitarian principles of living with integrity, nurturing wonder, and inspiring action. Beyond worship services, USSB is a leader in social and environmental justice programs in their community. The congregation is involved in outreach partnerships including LGBTQ2S+ advocacy groups, immigration justice funds, and climate equity initiatives.

With support from RE-volv, USSB’s transition to a solar microgrid will strengthen their organizational commitment to “respect the interdependent web of all existence of which we are part.” With this solar and battery storage system, they also plan to become a Resilience Hub to further serve neighbors without homes during disaster, such as with times of extreme heat and smoke events.
