Calvary Resurrectional Baptist Church, located in Compton, CA, serves three neighboring communities: Watts, Willowbrook and Compton. Their congregation is 70 members strong, and the church has been a space of worship for 77 years now. The church’s mission is to engage the community and support the growth of individuals in their entirety, allowing them to be healthy in faith and family. 

Pastor Quentin, who has been worshiping at the church his entire life, shared that the church's electricity bills were very high and climbing due to outdated and inefficient AC units. The church chose to go solar to lower operating costs and invest more in community projects. Some of their initiatives include partnering with other nonprofits, like the Nicotine Prevention Group, to host outdoor events, and their food bank every other Thursday. 

Calvary was inspired to go solar after seeing Watts-Willowbrook Church of Christ go solar in the summer of 2024.
