The Berkeley Chess School is a nonprofit organization that offers chess education and workshops in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since its founding in 1982, Berkeley Chess School has taught thousands of kindergarten through high school students chess. Recently, they also opened classes for adult instruction. Berkeley Chess School’s mission is enriching the lives of children from all backgrounds through chess as a community-building activity.

In 2025, Berkeley Chess School began their transition to solar energy, allowing them to reduce their carbon footprint and save significant money on their energy bills. These savings will be used to fund our outreach program to Title 1 schools in the SF Bay Area.
