Founded in the 1980s, Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley is a no-kill animal shelter that rescues and treats thousands of animals. Located in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, Animal Protectors is part of the Best Friends Network, a nationwide coalition of public and private shelters, rescue groups, spay/neuter organizations, and other animal welfare groups committed to animal rights.

Animal Protectors is in the process of installing solar panels, reducing their carbon footprint and saving significant money on energy bills. The savings will be reinvested into their mission of finding safe, loving homes for abused and abandoned animals and continuing educational outreach on responsible pet ownership.
