McGee Avenue Baptist Church, located in Berkeley, California, is a Christ-Centered, Spirit-Led family of faith over 100 people strong. They’ve been a part of the community since 1918. Outside weekly Sunday worship services, the church has a robust food program every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Last year, they distributed over 18,000 meals!

Through going solar with RE-volv, the church will save over $180,000 on electricity bills that they can invest back into their mission.

McGee Avenue Baptist Church was part of the broader BIPOC Houses of Worship Initiative, which aims to accelerate the deployment of solar energy in communities by assisting BIPOC houses of worship around the country in transitioning to solar. This initiative is a partnership between Green the Church, Interfaith Power & Light, NREL and RE-volv.
