Housing Unlimited provides affordable, independent housing for adults in mental health recovery in Montgomery County, Maryland. Currently, the organization owns 92 scattered-site homes in Montgomery County and provides permanent, shared housing to 253 very low income adults.  Members of their staff visit each home every week to check in with tenants, building a reliable and trusting relationship. With a secure home and desired supports, adults can focus on their independence and recovery.

In partnership with RE-volv, GreenBrilliance, and Montgomery County Green Bank, Housing Unlimited is solarizing a portfolio of 40+ townhomes, with the majority of the solar systems now online. This initiative is projected to generate more than $1.6 million in utility bill savings over the systems' lifetime. Through RE-volv’s financing, Housing Unlimited sees immediate monthly savings because their solar payments are structured to be lower than their previous utility costs. After accounting for the cost of the solar systems, the impact is over $500,000 in total net savings that the organization can immediately begin redirecting toward expanding staff capacity and adding more homes.
