RE-volv receives $850,000 grant from Salesforce to finance over thirty nonprofit solar projects, conduct community solar education events, and train clean energy leaders over two years.
"RE-volv has been working for over a decade to create accessible pathways for nonprofits that serve vulnerable communities in America to benefit from solar energy," said Andreas Karelas, Founder and Executive Director of RE-volv.
The nonprofit offers zero-down solar financing enabling organizations to switch to solar without upfront costs. Participating groups achieved minimum electricity savings of 15% or higher. RE-volv has developed solar projects for over 70 nonprofits across 17 states, collectively saving them more than $20 million on electricity bills while serving 50,000 beneficiaries. The 4MW+ installed systems will prevent over 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions over 25 years.
"RE-volv is a true force multiplier for an equitable clean energy transition, accelerating decarbonization while decreasing energy access costs for nonprofits," said Naomi Morenzoni of Salesforce.
The grant timing aligns with the Inflation Reduction Act's provisions allowing nonprofits direct access to solar Investment Tax Credits and billions in low-cost capital through the EPA's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.
RE-volv launched a solar loan product enabling nonprofits nationwide to own solar systems, battery storage, and upgrade building infrastructure. Lawrence Berkeley National Lab research indicates nonprofit solar installations accelerate residential adoption rates.
RE-volv previously received support from the U.S. Department of Energy, Wells Fargo Foundation, Schmidt Family Foundation, and Kresge Foundation.
